KAMI learned that the said occasion is held annually, and the biggest and brightest stars in showbiz gather together in a night of glamor and sophistication.
However, aside from becoming a moment to flaunt stunning outfits, the well-known ABS-CBN Ball also does not escape controversies and intrigues.

1. Gerald Anderson was spotted leaving the event with Bea Alonzo
In 2010, Gerald became the talk of the town after he allegedly left his date Kim Chiu for Bea Alonzo during the Star Magic Ball. A photo of him leaving the venue with the former “One More Chance” star was uploaded on social media.
A source of PUSH revealed before that she saw the two celebrities leaving the ballroom and they waited for the elevator together. However, the actor denied the allegation, as he quipped that he was just being kind to the veteran actress.
“Kasabay ko siyang lumabas. Nagkataon na na-picturan ako na naka-alalay sa kanya. Pero sa tingin ko lang wala namang masama doon. Wag na po nating bigyan ng meaning,” he stated.
2. Jessy Mendiola revealed the color of Luis Manzano’s underwear
Jessy Mendiola shook the online world after she announced to the public the color of the underwear that Luis Manzano was wearing at Star Magic Ball 2016.
“We don’t live by the rules. We are rebels,” Luis quipped when asked why they did not follow the color scheme.

3. Ellen Adarna’s “drunk” moment at Star Magic Ball 2015
A video of Ellen during the 2015 Star Magic Ball immediately circulated and made noise on social media. It was said that the actress was too drunk that time and she was seen holding Paolo Avelino’s hand. It became controversial because Ellen chose Ejay Falcon as her partner during the occasion, but she was seen getting “clingy” with someone else.
4. Billy Crawford got detained after the event
Billy Crawford reportedly got aggressive while inside a police precinct after the Star Magic Ball 2014. He sought for the help of the authorities, but he ended up creating a scandalous moment. The actor apologized for what happened, and he admitted that it was his fault.
5. Coco Martin and Matteo Guidicelli involved in a fistfight
Coco and Matteo made headlines during the 2011 Star Magic Ball after they got involved in a fistfight. The controversial incident was reportedly because of jealousy, since Maja Salvador was the girlfriend of Matteo that time and she was the co-star of Coco in “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin.”

Para sa aktres na si Bea Alonzo, “empowering” ang pagrampa niyang mag-isa sa ABS-CBN Ball 2019 red carpet.
Ito rin ang unang beses na wala siyang kasamang date sa nakalipas na sampung taon.
Magiliw na kinausap ng 31-year-old actress ang PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at iba pang reporters na nag-abang sa pagdating niya sa taunang event, na idinaos sa Shangri-La sa The Fort, Taguig City, nitong Sabado ng gabi, September 14.
Unang inusisa kay Bea ang suot niyang black Spanish Senorita-inspired gown na gawa ni Jun Escario at disenyo ni Pam Quinones.
Kasunod nito, kinumusta ang aktres tungkol sa mag-isa niyang pagrampa sa red carpet ng ball.
Sagot ni Bea, “I just realized it’s my first time to actually walk on the red carpet alone after ten years.
“So it feels great naman.”
Dagdag pa ni Bea, “It’s actually empowering, it’s liberating, and I’m enjoying it.”
Bago pa nakausap ang nagkumpulang reporters, ang red carpet host na si Raymond Gutierrez ang unang nangumusta kay Bea.
“I’m recovering. I’m actually great,” sagot ng dalaga.
Tapos na ang interview nang nagpahabol ng komento si Raymond sa nakatalikod nang si Bea.

Lumingon at ngumiti lang si Bea, na napagitna kamakailan sa intriga kasunod ng kontrobersiyal na hiwalayan nila ni Gerald Anderson nitong July ngayong taon.
Sa nakalipas na tatlong taon, o mula 2016 hanggang 2018, kasama ni Bea si Gerald sa red carpet ng taunang ball na dating kilala bilang Star Magic Ball.
Bago si Gerald, ang dating nobyo at kapwa Kapamilya artist na si Zanjoe Marudo ang naging date ni Bea sa Star Magic Ball mula 2010 hanggang 2015.
Napabalita pa nga noong 2010 na bagamat magkasamang dumating sa ball sina Bea at Zanjoe, ay nakita ng ilang onlookers na magkasamang umalis ng ballroom sina Bea at Gerald, na noon ay date ng ex-girlfriend niyang si Kim Chiu.
Samantala, kung solong dumating si Bea sa ball ngayong taon, kasama naman ni Gerald ang mga co-stars niya sa ipapalabas na teleseryeng A Soldier’s Heart na sina Elmo Magalona, Jerome Ponce, Nash Aguas, at Yves Flores.

A number of beauty queens graced the red carpet of ABS-CBN Ball 2019 in their modern Filipiniana gowns.
The Kapamilya network's annual charity event was held on Saturday night, September 14, at the grand ballroom of Shangri-la at the Fort in Bonifacio Global City.
Among them was Miss International 2016 Kylie Versoza, who wore Cary Santiago's art-deco Filipiniana.
The Los Bastardos actress was styled by Adrianne Concepcion. Make-up artist Anthea Bueno gave Kylie a soft-blush make-up look. Meanwhile, hairstylist Kiel Otilla opted for a simple, messy ponytail for the beauty queen.
