Lloyd Cadena was tested positive for COVID-19 and “suffered a heart attack while asleep,” his family confirmed, 2 days after his death announcement on Facebook.
“There are simply no words to express our heartfelt thanks for the prayers and sympathy you have extended to our family during this time of loss.

“Lloyd was confined in the hospital on September 1 due to high fever and dry cough. He was tested for COVID-19 on the same day which the result came out positive on September 3. As soon as the result of his swab test came out, our family, including BNT immediately isolated themselves. His vitals were okay and had no complaints.
“On September 4, 5am he was seen by the staff unresponsive and pale looking. As informed by the doctor, he suffered a heart attack while asleep. He was cremated yesterday and his remains is in our house in Cavite in the meantime.
“All expressions of sympathy, including flowers and cards are welcome. You may send them to our address at #14 Scarah, Kaingin Rd., Brgy. Sto. Niño, Parañaque City.”
An outpouring of condolences flooded social media as news of KweenLC (a moniker given to Cadena by his community) spread. The news even reached his idol Mariah Carey.
Lloyd Cadena was more than just a face you saw on your social media feed. He was a student, a good brother to his siblings, and an activist.

Pacman, the dog, dies in freak accident

MANILA, Philippines — Tragedy struck Team Pacquiao last Saturday as Pacman, the 14-year-old Jack Russell terrier of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, died after a freak accident in the senator’s mansion in General Santos City.

Pacman, who was a constant companion of the world champion, whether on the road or at home, here and abroad, was accidentally run over by a car in the garage of Pacquiao‘s home.
Pacquiao’s information officer said the accident happened just two days after the senator’s family arrived from Manila after being locked down in their Dasmarinas Village residence since March.
It was Pacquiao’s close friend, David Sisson, who was manning the wheel of the vehicle that ran over Pacman, who became part of Team Pacquiao in 2006.
After the accident, Pacman was taken to a veterinary clinic but could not be saved. Pacman was burried inside the vast property of the boxer.
Pacquiao and members of his family who just arrived from Manila are under self-quarantine in GenSan.
The Pacquiaos were all saddened by the incident but had to accept the fate of their beloved pet.
Pacman, the dog, will forever remain in their hearts.

KC Montero among 100 nabbed for alleged social distancing violations in Makati

Actor and TV host KC Montero was one of about 100 people arrested in Makati City on Sunday night for allegedly flouting social distancing requirements.

According to a report by GMA News' Jonathan Andal, the Makati City police nabbed Montero in a bar and restaurant for violating social distancing rules amid the general community quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila to stop COVID-19.
Montero, however, said there was social distancing.
"I think para sa mga tao na papunta diyan, I think what they thought was it was open. So you’re allowed to go. And on top of that everybody was practicing social distancing. The tables were wide apart, were far apart," he told reporters.
 Among those arrested were the owner and employees of the establishment.
The owner said there was no party held in the establishment.
Under government guidelines, bars are not yet allowed to open in areas under GCQ. They will only be allowed to open in areas under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) at a reduced operating capacity. —BM/KG, GMA News

Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. on Saturday honored his father, former Senator Ramon Revilla Sr., on Facebook, saying he "lived a full life."
"We love you Daddy. You will greatly be missed. You have lived a full life – far greater than anyone could ever wish for to say it was complete and lived well," the younger Revilla wrote.

He went on to say Ramon Sr. touched many lives in the arts and in public service.
"Napakarami mong mga buhay na nahaplos sa iyong sining at sa iyong paglilingkod sa bayan," Bong said.
Ramon Sr. passed away on Friday due to heart failure at the age of 93.
Ramon Sr., whose real name was Jose Acuña Bautista, was a popular action star before he turned to government service and politics. Among the laws he authored as legislator were Republic Act (RA) 8150 or the Public Works and Highways Infrastructure Program, RA 6425 or the Dangerous Drugs Act, RA 8370 or the Children’s Media Act, and RA 8294 which amended certain provisions of Presidential Decree No. 1866, lowering the penalties imposed for illegal possession of firearms.
'Salamat sa lahat'
Bong thanked Ramon Sr. for being a good father and mentor, and asked him to say hello to his mother Azucena "Cena" Mortel who passed away in the late 80s.
"Salamat sa lahat Daddy. Salamat sa pagiging mabuting ama; isang mentor na umakay sa akin sa industriya; sa pagbigay at pamana sa akin ng iyong pangalan; higit sa lahat, sa iyong pagmamahal," he wrote.
"Please say hello to Mommy Cena for us. I love you," Bong said, before sharing a video showing highlights in the life of Ramon Sr. 
Ramon Sr. is also the father of Cavite 2nd District Representative Strike Revilla; and Evelyn Bautista-Jaworski, wife of former basketball superstar and ex-Senator Robert Jaworski; among others.
He is also the father of slain actor-model Ramgen Revilla. Ramgen's siblings were considered suspects in the their brother's murder on October 2011.
Ramon Sr. had fathered at least 72 children from 16 different women. 
Wake
Bong said the wake of his father will be held in Bacoor City, Cavite at the Revilla Compound at 305 Aguinaldo Highway starting 2 p.m. on Saturday.
"The family requests the public to give us and close friends time to grieve privately until further notice," he said.

Ex-actress nabbed for selling COVID test kits

MANILA, Philippines — A former actress and model was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday for the unauthorized sale of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rapid test kits worth P70,000.

Avigail Siwa was arrested at an entrapment operation in Intramuros, Manila after a businesswoman reported her to authorities for estafa.
Siwa advertised on social media that she was selling four brands of COVID rapid test kits for a “home service COVID testing.”
Jessielyn Fernando told the NBI she paid P4.4 million as downpayment for 10,000 sacks of rice that did not arrive. 
Siwa, in a television interview, said Fernando still owed her money for the order.
She said she ran a medical trading equipment company which is registered with the Department of Trade and Industry.
NBI international operations division chief Ronald Aguto said Siwa was not authorized by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to sell rapid test kits.
She will face charges of estafa and violating the FDA Act.
Only doctors or health workers are allowed to administer tests, according to the FDA.
Siwa also reportedly tried to sell personal protective equipment and rice to undercover agents.

At base sa imbestigasyon ng Senado, ani Coco, lumabas na maaaring bigyan ng provisional authority na mag-operate ang ABS-CBN, habang hinihintay ang desisyon ng Kongreso sa prangkisa ng network. 
Pero ipinasara pa rin daw ang ABS-CBN noong May 5, matapos mag-isyu ng Cease and Desist Order ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
Ito ay sa kabila ng naunang pahayag ni NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba na bibigyan nila ng provisional franchise ang ABS-CBN hanggang June 2022.
Ngunit nagbanta si Solicitor General Jose Calida na kakasuhan niya ang NTC officials kapag binigyan nila ng provisional authority ang ABS-CBN.
Nauna rito, noong Pebrero 2020, naghain ng quo warranto petition si Calida sa Supreme Court upang hilingin ang pagbawi sa legislative franchise ng ABS-CBN.
Ito ay dahil diumano sa nadiskubreng "highly abusive practices of ABS-CBN" sa operasyon nito.
Si Calida ang abugado at "alter ego" ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Hinaing ni Coco: "Kung ang kumpanya namin may ginawang kasamaan, kawalanghiyaan...
"Sa pamantayan sa aking buhay, alam niyo po, hindi ko luluninin kung anuman ang ipagagawa sa akin.
"Ako ang kauna-unahang tatanggi at makikipaglaban."

FURIOUS AT THE "INJUSTICE" OF IT ALL
Hindi matanggap ni Coco na sa gitna na kinahaharap na health crisis ng bansa ay inuna pa raw ng pamahalaan na ipasara ang ABS-CBN.

Gigil na tanong ni Coco: "Bakit dumating ang pagkakataon na ito na kami ang isipin niyong tanggalin?

Giit pa ni Coco, dumagdag lang ang ABS-CBN sa problema ng bayan gayong wala naman daw kapasidad ang gobyerno na tustusan ang pangangailan ng taong-bayan.
"Tapos yung mga tao, tuwang-tuwa na nawalan ng trabaho ang 11,000 na tao?" ani Coco patungkol sa bashers ng ABS-CBN.
"O ngayon, kaming 11,000 na tao, anong mangyayari sa amin ngayon?
"Ngayon, kaming mga artista, paano namin tutulungan ang ibang pamilyang tinutulungan at binubuhay namin?"
Sa puntong ito ay tinabla ni Coco ang suhestiyon ni Malacañang spokesperson Harry Roque na mag-apply sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) ang ABS-CBN workers para sa ayuda.  
Kaugnay ito ng one-time PHP5,000 cash aid mula sa DOLE para sa workers ng small and medium enterprises.

Acclaimed director Peque Gallaga dies at 76

Pumanaw na ang premyadong direktor na si Peque Gallaga nitong Mayo 7, Huwebes ng umaga. Binawian ng buhay si Direk Peque, Maurice Ruiz de Luzuriaga Gallaga sa totoong buhay, sa Riverside Medical Center sa Bacolod City.

Mga kumplikasyon sa kanyang heart condition ang ikinamatay ng direktor.
Siya ay 76 anyos. 
Ayon sa maybahay ni Direk Peque na si Madie Gallaga, noong Mayo 4, Lunes, na kausap niya si Direk ay hindi na ito makapagsalita. 
Batid ni Madie na handa nang mamatay ang asawa, at aware si Direk Peque na bumibigay na ang kanyang katawan.
Kabilang sa mga di malilimutang pelikula na idinirek ni Direk Peque ang Oro, Plata, Mata (1982), Scorpio Nights (1985), Tiyanak (1988), Aswang (1992), Darna: Ang Pagbabalik (1994), Magic Temple (1996), Ang Kabit ni Mrs. Montero (1999), at Sonata (2013).
Karamihan sa mga pelikulang ito ay katuwang niya sa pagdidirek si Lore Reyes.
Marami rin sa mga pelikula niya ay kabahagi si Direk Peque sa pagbuo ng screenplay.
Nag-artista rin siya sa mga pelikulang gaya ng Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos (1976), Lucio & Miguel (1992), Jose Rizal (1998), Enteng Kabisote 4 (2007), at Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote (2010). 
Bago naging direktor ay nagtrabaho siya bilang production designer. 
Nagwagi sa Gawad Urian ang production design nila ni Laida Lim Perez para sa pelikulang Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon (1976), at ang production design niya para sa City After Dark (1980) aka Manila By Night. 
Pinarangalan si Direk Peque sa International Film Festival of Flanders-Ghent noong 1983 sa Belgium, at sa 2004 Gawad CCP Para sa Sining.

ELLEN FOCUSED ON MOTHERHOOD

Koko sued over Makati Med visit

MANILA, Philippines — A criminal complaint was filed yesterday against Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel before the Department of Justice (DOJ) for breaching quarantine protocols when he visited the Makati Medical Center (MMC) despite showing symptoms of the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 on March 24.

Pimentel had explained that he was already in the hospital when he got a call from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, confirming that he had tested positive for COVID-19.
His wife Kathryna said he had been on 10-day quarantine because of virus symptoms before the visit.
In a complaint e-mailed to the DOJ, lawyer Rico Quicho cited Pimentel’s alleged violation of Republic Act 11332 or the law on mandatory reporting of notifiable diseases and events of public health concern.
The offense carries a penalty of up to six months in prison on top of fines.
“We are one with the Filipino people in condemning his reckless acts, which exposed the public, especially health workers to the virus,” Quicho said. “He blatantly violated laws, which put the health of medical frontliners and ordinary citizens at risks.”
Quicho said Pimentel has “categorically admitted his breach without remorse. And because of his position, he is still not being made accountable.”
Quicho expressed hope that the DOJ will act on the complaint. 
“We hope that the DOJ will be true to its commitment to uphold the rule of law without fear or favor,” he said.
Pimentel said he has not read the complaint, adding he was not familiar with the procedure of filing complaints by e-mail.
“To be fair to me, I hope Quicho furnishes me with a copy so I can answer,” Pimentel told reporters through Viber.
The senator received flak when he accompanied his then pregnant wife to the MMC four days after he was tested for COVID-19.
Prior to this, closed-circuit television footage caught Pimentel shopping at the S&R supermarket in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig after he had announced that he manifested COVID-19 symptoms such as flu and body pains.
Pimentel has apologized publicly after the MMC denounced his “irresponsible and reckless action.”
He said he never intended to harm anyone.
The MMC said it had to put 22 of its personnel on quarantine and shut down the delivery complex for disinfection because of Pimentel’s visit.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said they would schedule a preliminary investigation on the complaint against Pimentel. 
“We assure the public that the justice department will apply the law fairly, regardless of the status of the respondent, with due respect to his rights,” Guevarra said.
The National Bureau of Investigation earlier said it would look into Pimentel’s supposed violation of quarantine guidelines. – With Paolo Romero

Is Sarah Geronimo pregnant?

Aside from the fans, it seems like Nico Bolzico is curious if Sarah Geronimo is already pregnant after tying the knot with husband Matteo Guidicelli a month ago.
During the Facebook Live broadcast of One Voice Pilipinas last Sunday, Guidicelli and Kean Cipriano asked Bolzico about his experience as a first-time father to daughter Thylane who is now three months old.

The businessman said, “It’s good. we take turns in taking care of Thylane. I think that’s one of the best things about this quarantine, we can spend time with Thylane.”
Guidicelli then told Bolzico to teach him his parenting strategies to become a good father to which the latter agreed before asking: “Is Sarah pregnant?”

In response, Guidicelli said, “No, no, no” and admitted that they are enjoying their time together as a married couple since it’s the first time they’ve been together after six years of dating, and they don’t feel any rush to build their own family right away.
He said: “Whatever God gives us, it would be amazing. As of now, we enjoy each other because this is the first time that we’re actually together after six years.”
He also shared that being married to Geronimo has been the best part of his life.
