Get to know Ellen Adarna

Although she’s been quite popular in the online scene for a while now, Ellen Adarna has hogged the spotlight recently due to her seemingly unintelligibly interview when she weighed in on the Vhong Navarro mauling. The said interview led to memes about her spreading online.

The 25-year-old actress-model rose to fame long before selfies became a hit by posting excessive amounts of solo photos on now-defunct social media platforms like MySpace and Friendster that led to the birth of many poser accounts that exploited her photos. This as well as many magazine covers (from teens to men’s magazines) paved the way for the Cebuana beauty to penetrate show business in 2010. The sultry actress simultaneously gained popularity for being a mainstay in FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women’s List for years now.

The new Kapamilya star is also a motel heiress to her businessman father who is the owner of a chain of motels in Cebu, Davao, and Manila.  Last year, Ellen expressed plans of leaving showbiz for good in order to rejoin her father’s business after years of having a strained relationship with him. However, she quickly backpedaled and claimed that she would juggle being an actress and an employee at the same time.

One of the highlights of Ellen’s acting career happened when she took on the lead role in Gil Portes’s indie film Ang Tag-araw ni Twinkle, an entry to the Sineng Pambansa Film Festival of the Film Development Council of the Philippines September last year. The ever-candid star was even quoted in an interview that her role as a rebellious daughter to a retired military man who entered rehab somehow hit close to home as she confessed having used illegal drugs occasionally during her party girl days...

Roy Alvarez dies of cardiac arrest

Veteran character actor Roy Alvarez died of cardiac arrest on Tuesday, February 11. He was 63.

Elmo Magalona, Roy’s co-star in the GMA series “Villa Quintana” said in a telephone interview that the late actor’s road manager informed him and the rest of the drama series’ stars and staff about the shocking piece of news.

“We had taping last week and we were having fun. I didn’t see it coming. This week, the script had to be revised so we have no taping schedule. We usually tape Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.”

Elmo remembers his co-star for his many stories, among them, those dealing with ghosts and how he quit smoking a long time ago.

“Hinulaan pa nga ako ni Tito Roy through numerology.”

Roy also starred in GMA 7’s epic serye “Amaya.”

His remains will be brought to Santuario de San Jose, Greenhills.
