Freddie and Jovi romance is 'not about money'

The parents of singer Freddie Aguilar’s 16-year-old girlfriend, Jovi Gatdula, have given their blessing to the May-December romance.

In an interview on “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, October 27, Joel and Violeta explained that they support their daughter’s relationship with Freddie because they are after the girl’s happiness.
“Kung pipigilan mo, lalo pong magwawala iyan eh. Baka mas mapariwara ang buhay. Kaya sabi ko, kung ano ang gusto niya, 'Sige, supportahan na lang kita,” Violeta said.

Good influence

She also shared that Freddie is a good influence on their daughter.

“Malaki po ang pinagbago. Natutuwa ako sa pinagbago ng batang iyon. Mas nag-mature na siya, mas may paggalang na siya sa amin ngayon.”

While she and her husband share their daughter’s happiness, Violeta admits she is hurt over accusations that they are after Freddie’s money.

The couple hopes Freddie and their daughter will prove that the accusations against them are wrong.

“Magsama sila ng maayos. At sana kung magkakaproblema, ayusin nila. Tibayan nila ang pagsasama nila at ipakita nila sa mundo na talagang nagmamahalan sila,” Violeta said.

In a live interview on “Buzz ng Bayan,” Freddie, accompanied by his girlfriend, revealed that he didn’t plan on continuing their relationship if her parents disapproved it.

“Sabi ko ‘Babe, sabihin na natin sa magulang mo na meron na tayong relasyong dalawa kasi iyon ang tama. Kung kinontra ako ng tatay at nanay niya, hindi ko na itutuloy. Kasi alam ko nang hindi tama kung ayaw akong tanggapin ng magulang niya. (Kung hindi tinanggap) Sasabihin ko na ‘Maghintay muna tayo kasi hindi tama na walang blessing.'"

Janelle moves on without Ramgen

Two years after the gruesome death of her boyfriend Ramgen Revilla on October 28, 2011, Janelle Manahan has moved on.

Janelle’s photos on her Twitter and Instagram accounts don’t show any sign of a face that had undergone several facial surgeries and electrical stimulation therapy after a bullet went through her head the day an assassin barged into the room of the 23-year-old son of former Senator Ramon Revilla, Sr. in Paranaque and killed him with three gunshots and stabbed him 11 times.
Though she thought of dying as she bled profusely, the then 22-year-old girlfriend of Ramgen was able to call a friend, Wendell Cunanan, who reported the incident to Patrol 117.

“Actually until now I cannot believe na nangyari sa'kin 'yon. Kasi before, I only see it in the movies. I never thought that it would happen to me,” she told Yahoo Philippines OMG.

Life goes on for Janelle. Though she admits looking back still brings fear, she just feels blessed to survive death.

“Akala ko last day ko na 'yon. I'm very thankful that I was given a chance to live my life again and be able to survive that tragic event.”

New life, new love

Although Ramgen was not as famous as his half-brother—actor-politician Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr.—his sudden death unearthed a possible sibling rivalry that dragged his two siblings, Ramon Joseph (RJ) and Ramona, as principal suspects.

RJ has since been in prison while Ramona has fled to Turkey before she was put on the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) Wanted List.

And although she swore not to have a boyfriend after Ramgen’s death, Janelle now faces a new life with her new love.

“Yeah. I've moved on na din on that aspect [relationship]. But as much as possible, since the guy is very private, I try to keep kung sino siya.”

Janelle shared that she and her boyfriend have been friends since last year, but officially became a couple early this year.

Building her future ‘online’

The 24-year-old murder survivor has started her own online clothing company—AsteriAsia, for which she designs and sells clothes for women.

“Startup pa lang siya but hopefully, in the future sana lumaki. It's doing well. Actually before we only sell dresses. But after we saw the demand for street wear like statement and graphic shirts and denim, for our next collection this November 'yun ang ilalabas namin.”

What started as a childhood memory of a young Janelle staying in her aunt’s fabric factory became an inspiration to build her own business.

“It's what I want to do. Feeling ko hindi ako nagwo-work.”

Phil on Angel: We remain friends

Azkals football player Phil Younghusband finally broke his silence after Angel Locsin spoke up regarding their split.

Phil posted a photo with the caption “Thank you for your support” in his Instagram account on Sunday, October 27. The rest of the message read:
"Hi everyone, in lieu of the separation, I would like to thank you for all your support throughout our relationship. It was definitely a happy one, as much as we tried to make it work we would just like to request for all of you to support us in our choice and that we respect one another in keeping our personal lives to ourselves. It is a sensitive matter and I personally apologize for taking time to let everyone know about the situation. I am grateful for your support and we hope you continue to support both of us in our each of our endeavors."

Phil explained that no one was to blame for the breakup.

"Neither of us regret the time we spent together, we enjoyed each others company and really made the most of it. There are no faults in this, it was not an issue of who did or didnt do something, it was a mutual decision and although it was difficult we just both felt that this would be the best thing to do given our circumstances. Although we have parted as a couple, we are thankful that we remain friends and we only wish the best for each other. Thank you very much for your support." Despite this, many of Angel and Phil’s supporters hope for a reconciliation. The two officially became a couple in May 2012, a year after Phil asked Angel to be his Valentine date.
