Angel Locsin echoes Marian Rivera’s dismay over constant comparisons

Despite incessant comparisons by their respective fans over the years, Toda Max star Angel Locsin maintained that she and Marian Rivera are on good terms. However, she admitted that there was a time that she and Marian were a little aloof around each other.

“Sa amin kasi wala kaming issue. Wala kaming away. Siguro nagkakaroon na lang ng parang medyo naging aloof kami sa isa’t isa kasi laging nako-compare,” confessed Angel in an interview during the press set visit for Toda Max. The comparison between the two actresses began after they both took on the role of the iconic Filipino heroine Darna some years back.

Being pitted against Marian by hardcore fans, Angel said has resigned herself to the thought that “Alam mong iko-compare ng tao talaga kahit anong gawin namin, laging may manlalait sa akin na fan niya, may manlalait sa kanya na fan ko.”

With that, she has asked their respective followers to put their non-existent rivalry to rest.

While they are not the best of friends, Angel has nothing but good words about Marian’s generosity which she witnessed when the latter gave donations for Shop and Share, a online charity auction she spearheaded with Anne Curtis in 2009 for the benefit of the displaced victims of Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.“Nung Shop and Share kaya humingi ako sa kanya ng mga donations and nag-donate siya ng mga gowns niya tsaka bags,” Angel shared.

Cover girls
Recently, Angel had the chance to meet with Marian for the cover shoot of Rogue magazine where they both posed for the cameras for their stylist and friend Pam Quiñones together with Charlene Gonzales, Judy Ann Santos, and Anne Curtis.

According to Angel, that was the first time that she had the chance to her five years since she transferred networks. She said she was the first to approach Marian and her first words to her were: “Kailangan natin mag-usap.” To which Marian replied with a hearty laugh and said, “Oo nga eh!”

From that moment on, she said they started chatting with each other and among the things that they spoke about was how Marian felt about the long-standing comparison between them. Angel revealed.

What did she feel upon seeing Marian?

As for the possibility of a joint project with Marian, Angel said she thinks that the time has yet to come for them to collaborate on a project, especially if it would only add on to animosity between their respective fans.

“Pero kami, wala kaming problema,” she added.
