Regarding her privacy with utmost value, Kapamilya actress Erich Gonzales has got the public puzzling about the details of her love story with her businessman boyfriend for a while now. There were no photos of them together online nor has she revealed his name or even his initials.
But for the first time, the Juan dela Cruz actress has shared a few other points about him that doesn’t only involve how they met and how they manage to get-by with their much-questioned 10-year age gap.
The birthday girl who recently turned 23 during a live guesting at The Buzz on Sunday shared that what endeared her the most about him was his similar, high-regard for privacy.
“Special dahil he’s a very private person. When I say private, meron po kasing mga non-showbiz na gusto ng showbiz exposure ganyan, but siya po hindi siya ganon,” she said.
But more than that Erich especially noted her boyfriend’s very supportive nature saying that, “I’m very thankful dahil supportive siya lahat ng ginagawa ko and he knows na priority ko talaga yung work ko.“
Furthermore, she appreciates the fact that even she is admittedly in love with him “hindi naman po umiikot ang buhay ko sakanya lang, kumbaga may kanya-kanya kaming mundo pero naggo-grow naman kami together.
Erich and her boyfriend are already going three years now, but she shared that she never really wanted to date him at first.
“Hindi ko alam. Nung una ayaw ko sakanya. Sinabi ko naman yun sakanya dahil parang ang yabang ng dating, naka-branded tapos [may] sports car. Tapos biglang padala ng pagkain, kala niya siguro madadala niya ako food,” she narrated, “[Tapos] yun isang araw gumising nalang ako na ‘Ay okay pala ito.‘”
Known for her ambivalence towards getting into romantic relationships, Erich related that before giving him a chance to pursue her they have been friends first for over four years.
“Alam niya po na takot na pumasok sa isang relasyon pero sabi niya sakin, ‘Yung relationship pwede mo yang i-compare sa isang ship dahil masusubukan mo yun kapag may storm, kapag may malalaking waves. Hindi lang smooth-sailing. Diba? How will you know kung hindi mo naman ita-try? Hindi naman lahat ng lalaki sasaktan ka,’” shared the Star Circle Quest alumna.
Despite his romantic histrionics, Erich still refused to budge until one of the signs that she prayed for was granted.
“Before that, parang nagkaroon kami ng misunderstanding. Hindi naman LQ [lover's quarrel]. Tapos sabi niya ‘Last text ko na ito, hindi na kita guguluhin‘
“I prayed sabi ko, ‘Lord kung siya talaga, kung malinis naman yung intention niya babalik siya.’ Ayun bumalik siya tapos humingi ako ng sign. Maganda yung weather that day, sabi ko ‘Malabong uulan ito so hindi nga siya yan.‘ Tapos umulan [ayon sa hiningi kong sign],” the Maria la del Barrio star recalled.
At this point, Erich claims that she is very much contented with what she has in her life, career and most especially with her love life.
Is he ‘The One?’
“Yes. Sana po. Sino ba naman ang may gusto na iba-iba yung magiging boyfriend mo, magiging kasama mo. So I’m praying po,” she said.
Erich added, “Siyempre nung nag-yes ako sakanya hindi naman masasabi yun, pero hanggang ngayon more than two years na po kami and going strong po kami. Okay na okay po kami.”
Are the wedding bells about to toll for them soon enough?
“Yung engagement ring na sinasabi, hindi po engagement ring yun. Birthday gift po yun pero dapat pag-engagement ring, alam niya yun, dapat mas bongga,” she said in jest.
On a serious note that, Erich, who’s the breadwinner of their family, clarified that she’s not yet ready to tie the knot: “Alam niya rin naman na marami pa akong gustong gawin sa buhay ko.“
