Deniece Cornejo Surrenders

(Update No. 6—8:50 a.m., Tuesday, May 6) Deniece Cornejo ended her brief stint as a fugitive on Monday afternoon, May 5, as she surrendered to Philippine National Police Director-General Alan L. Purisima. The model reportedly showed up at Camp Crame at around 4 p.m. and proceeded to Purisima's office.

Cornejo was said to be accompanied by her granduncle, Rod, whose statement had been read on Buzz ng Bayan on Sunday, May 4. It was he who had appealed to her to surrender.

After the brief stopover at Purisima's office, Cornejo was then transported via a coaster to the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) building, where she was processed under the Women and Children Protection Desk.

The hunt for Deniece Cornejo

(Update No. 2—6:30 p.m., Sunday, May 4) With the arrest of business man Cedric Lee and Zimmer Raz last week, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is now going after the rest of those charged for the serious illegal detention of actor Vhong Navarro—model Deniece Cornejo, Jed Fernandez., and Ferdinand Guerrero.

Along with Bernice Lee and Jose Paolo "JP" Calma, they are the seven people whom Navarro said were present in the January 22 incident at a condo unit in Forbeswood Heights in Taguig.

HER STORY

Ever since she went public, Cornejo has claimed that Navarro raped her. Navarro, on the other hand, says that Cornejo's so-called rescuers, Lee and the rest of the group, tried to extort money from him.

The Department of Justice has since junked the rape case Cornejo filed against Navarro. In a 42-page resolution dated April 4, 2014, the DOJ stated that "it was very difficult to comprehend how Navarro could have raped Cornejo, noting that there was not even a single scratch on the model."

Two other women—Roxanne CabaƱero and Margarita "Mai" Fajardo—have also claimed that they were raped by Navarro. Navarro has denied the charges.

Is There a Missing Link on the Vhong Navarro-Deniece Cornejo/Cedrick Lee Scandal?

Aren’t we all confused by the turn of events on the first, biggest and hottest showbiz scandal to hit the country this year? From the interviews gathered from both sides aired on media, it seems that the accounts of It's Showtime host, Vhong Navarro on one side, and 22-year old model Deniece Cornejo with businessman Cedric Lee, etc, on the other, brought out more questions than answers.

The inconsistencies of events as they were narrated by them were overwhelming that can’t help but be suspicious that both sides might be covering up for someone/something bigger than them. Or aren’t they?

For example, Vhong went to Deniece's condominium unit on January 17, implying that they had a make out but no sex. After that, as he was in his car driving, girl texted him, "Bad ka," with Vhong assuming that Deniece wished something more had happened.

Let's play a devil's advocate here. Could it be that Deniece's boyfriend found out that meeting between her and Vhong and got mad and jealous, wanted to get back at Vhong that he texted Vhong using Deniece's cellphone to invite him again, which indeed happened January 22.

Remember that Vhong said that he found it weird that the tone of the text was quite unusual. After that Bad ka, succeeding texts from her beginning January 18 sounded sweet, like Deniece was inviting him, saying she would cook dinner for him, and she was calling him sweetie.

When Vhong went back to the condo on the agreed date and time, January22 at 10:30 pm or thereabouts, he was surprised that he was instructed to proceed, instead of being fetched from the lobby like the last time.

Vhong also found odd Deniece's reaction upon seeing him, " Bakit andito ka na, hindi pa ko nakakapaglinis? " Was it because she was really unaware that Vhong would come that night?

And if we are to speculate further, her words "Bakit andito ka na, hindi pa ko nakakapaglinis" were in fact hinting for Vhong to leave asap as he was already in great danger (with Cedric and company already in her unit).

Why was it that the first visit had Deniece fetched Vhong from the lobby, in the second, he was already ordered to proceed? Was it because someone inside the condo unit was threatening her that should she go down at the lobby, she would be in bigger trouble?

Among all the men who mauled and mangled him, why did Vhong only identified Cedric Lee and a certain Mike? For such a strong case, why was there a mutual agreement not to pursue or file a case? Could it be possible that there is a powerful personality allegedly involved that should not be identified?

Like I said, we are here playing devil's advocate. Until those involved can come up with more credible and believable statements, speculations like these will continue to pour in the minds of the public.

Deniece Cornejo no show at NBI probe

MANILA, Philippines—The woman who accused TV host-actor Vhong Navarro of attempted rape was a no-show at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

NBI-National Capital Region (NCR) assistant regional director Vicente de Guzman said they have sent a subpoena to Deniece Milet Cornejo to answer questions regarding the incident involving Navarro but she failed to appear Monday.

De Guzman said the actor mentioned Cornejo as the one who occupying the condominium unit where he was mauled by six to seven men.

De Guzman said failure to appear would mean “they would lose their chance to air their side in our investigation.”

He said they will file the case based on the evidence they have at hand.

The NBI already summoned the security guard on duty at the time of the incident and asked for a copy of the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of Forbeswood Heights, the condominium unit.

De Guzman, however, refused to identify who will be included in the complaint saying they are still investigating the matter.

“We are already winding up our investigation,” he said.

The comedian has been confined at an undisclosed hospital since Thursday to recover from injuries that he suffered from the mauling incident on Wednesday night at Cornejo’s unit.

Navarro also admitted that he signed an entry dated Jan. 22 in a police blotter in which he was accused of raping 22-yeard-old Cornejo in her condo. He pointed out, however, that he only did so under duress.

Meanwhile, a source from the NBI said the testimony of Navarro is “consistent” with the CCTV footage inside the condominium and the testimony of the security guard Lero Garvin.

Garvin said he saw Navarro, wearing a blue t-shirt, shorts and a ball cap, emerging from the elevator, with his hands tied with a duct tape behind his back, on January 22.

The security guard also noticed at least 7 men and Cornejo surrounding the actor as they exited the building.

The NBI learned from Garvin that Cornejo was a new tenant at the condominium unit in Forbes Wood Heights and was renting a unit owned by a certain Soledad Ramos.

Meanwhile, the CCTV footage obtained by the NBI also showed a hand-tied Navarro, together with the suspects going inside the elevator.

Deniece Millet Cornejo: Woman Who Accused Vhong Navarro of Attempted Rape

Deniece Millet Cornejo has been named as the 22-year-old student who accused Vhong Navarro of attempted rape.

The highly controversial situation ended in Navarro being beaten and needing surgery while recovering in the hospital.

Cornejo said in a police report that she fought off unwanted sexual advances from the “It’s Showtime” host. According to the report, two of her friends somehow heard the struggle and made a so-called “citizen’s arrest” of Navarro, taking him down to the police station.

But Navarro says that he was held at gunpoint after he arrived at Cornejo’s condo in Fort Bonifacio, and threatened. He said he was made to admit to trying to rape the young student in a video recording. The men who threatened him and his family then said that if he paid them an undisclosed amount of money, the video wouldn’t be released to the media.

Navarro never paid the money so the video was leaked.

Now there are two sides to the story with Cornejo and her friends alleging that Navarro attempted sexual assault while Navarro says that he feared for the lives of himself and his family under threats.

Cornejo has been identified by Filipino blogs and media outlets as a model and part-time television actress.

The broadcaster GMA released a statement denying any link between Cornejo and the network’s chairman.

“This is to clarify that the complainant involved in the Vhong Navarro incident is not related to GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon,” it said.

However, Cornejo’s Facebook says that she is the grand niece of Gozon.

Cornejo said via Facebook that “Everyone wants nothing but honesty yet caught lying most of the time. truth hurts and no matter how painful it is, face it with dignity.”

A source told the Philippine Inquirer that Navarro said that Cornejo was forced to make up the complaint by her boyfriend, who was mad that Cornejo and Navarro were (allegedly) having a relationship.
